Science & Social Studies
I believe in an integrated approach for teaching science and social studies in the primary grades. Young children love learning about topics in these subject areas. The many exciting projects and activities help motivate children in other areas of the curriculum. You will be surprised with the facts and knowledge your child will share with you. Young children have brains like sponges when taught subject matter in a meaningful way at their developmental level! For example, what better way to teach U.S. coins than to integrate facts about the presidents on the face of each coin and the U.S. symbols on the other side. In this way, math, social studies, and reading are all integrated. Below will give you a general idea of the topics being taught during each month of the school year.
